Nick is a struggling painter in Oakland who just lost his best paying gig. His publisher replaced his custom book covers with cheap computer generated art. Facing eviction and armed with nothing but resentment, Nick decides to fight back. He fakes a resume and gets a job at a tech company that trains the very algorithms that stole his career. His plan is simple. He wants to sabotage the system from the inside by deliberately feeding it bad visual data. The problem is that the job requires a trained eye. Nick sits alongside a crew of fellow burned out creatives who are just trying to pay their own rent. To stay hidden he has to pretend to do the work. But his years of studying light, anatomy, and color make him accidentally brilliant at spotting the mistakes made by the software. Soon his perfect scores draw the wrong kind of attention from his bosses. Nick has to figure out how to poison the machine without taking down the coworkers sitting right beside him.
